Who We Are
Singing Stream Village School is a will be a thriving education community using the teaching of the seven liberal arts, utilizing the One Room School House model: intentionally small, age integrated, with a heavy focus on habit and character development, centering on the Logos of Christ in order to, God willing, give our children the fertile soil required to grow into citizens who love and serve God, neighbor and community with wisdom and sincere Christian love.
With an MA in classical and liberal education from Belmont Abbey, a CiRCE Master Teacher certification, and experience in classroom education as well as homeschooling her own children, Mrs. Layton brings her experience and deep love of learning to the Village School classroom. Mrs. Layton's goal for her students is that they can see, receive, and respond rightly to beauty, which leads to true Beauty, who is Christ. She has seen and experienced Classical Education's ability to cultivate people of character who are equipped to discern rightly.
Our Teachers
Mrs.Walsh holds a bachelor's degree in Theology from DeSales University. With over a two decades of experience in education, she has had the great blessing of working with students of all ages in private schools, homeschool co-ops and hybrids, as well as home educating her own beautiful children. Currently, Mrs. Walsh is pursuing a Master Teacher Certification through the CiRCE Institute and has experience in Charlotte Mason/Classical, Montessori and Special Education classrooms. Her hope, when coming alongside a student, is to spark wonder, curiosity, and awe and, God willing, point the student to Christ the Logos.

What is a Village School?
Singing Stream Village School is a non-profit homeschool educational organization led by a Governing Board. Our Board comprises the Executive Director, Board Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Our day-to-day operations and classroom teaching are led by our School Directors, who are CiRCE’s trained teachers.
The Village school is familiar, recalling the education of our generations past. Yet made accessible today. Village schools are small, age-integrated, and informed by Classical education and principles. The Singing Stream village school is more than a “one-room schoolhouse”; it provides students and their families not only an education in the seven liberal arts but a community in which to press into this education.
Singing Stream Village School provides two day a week “schoolhouse instruction,” three days “at home instruction. The Village school teachers will send home assignments for the non-instruction days. However, SSV does not provide some subjects required by the State of PA, so it is the parents' responsibility to ensure they meet the PA state requirements.
